Before you start to set up, you need to learn the names of the parts:
Preparing to play:
1.
First, moisten your reed by putting it comfortably in your mouth.
2.
Next, line up your reed with your mouthpiece by putting the thin side of your reed over the hole and the upward curve facing out.
3.
Slide the ligature over the assembled mouthpiece with the screws facing up.
4.
Tighten the ligature using the screws.
5.
Put the neck strap around your neck.
6.
Carefully twist the fully assembled mouthpiece onto the neck of the saxophone with the reed facing down.
7.
Carefully pick up the saxophone by the bell and attach the neck strap to the small loop on the back of the saxophone.
8.
If it is not loose already, loosen the screw(s) at the top of the saxophone body. Slide the neck into the body of the saxophone.
9.
Adjust the neck strap comfortably.
